There are two ways to use Recraft to remove anatomical imperfections: the AI modify area (lasso) tool and the AI eraser tool. Both can be used to reduce background noise, smooth out textures or change the focal point of an image.
This is the simplest way to remove something unwanted from an image with Recraft.
1. Start a new project
Create a new project in Recraft and select an image to edit.
2. Remove unwanted elements with the AI eraser
Select the erase area tool in the toolbar. Slide to set the eraser size. Use the cursor to erase any object, pattern or part of an object. Watch Recraft automatically regenerate the image without the parts that have been erased.
The modify area tool can be used to simply remove an object. It can also be used to let generative AI creatively replace what has been removed with something else.

1. Start a new project
Create a new project in Recraft and select an image to edit.
2. Remove unwanted elements with the AI lasso tool
Click ‘Modify area’ in the toolbar to pick up the lasso outline pen. Trace the area or object you want to remove. In the prompt field, delete the text that corresponds with the object to be removed. For example, if the original prompt was “Girl with kite” and you want to remove the kite, delete the words “with kite” and click ‘Modify area.’
3. Replace an element or object using AI lasso
This can be done in the same moment as step 2 or as an additional step. To replace sneakers with webbed reptilian feet in an image of a man, for example, lasso the sneakers, type “webbed reptilian feet” in the prompt field and click ‘Modify area.’
4. Unselect the lassoed area and finalize
Once satisfied with the modification, right-click on the image, select “Clear selection” to remove the lasso, and export the image in the desired format.
